Trissential is currently seeking a Project Portfolio Management (“PPM”) Practice Leader to join our team in Minneapolis, MN. This position is a Remote with potential for some travel for clients domestically and abroad.

Responsibilities

Position Summary:   

As the Project Portfolio Management (PPM) Practice Leader at Trissential, you will lead our efforts in optimizing project portfolio management capabilities (people, process, tools, data) and establish, develop, or improve Project Management Offices (PMOs) for our diverse range of clients. Leveraging your expertise in project and program management methodologies, portfolio optimization, PPM planning and delivery experience, and PMO leadership, you will guide a team of consultants in delivering strategic solutions to drive project excellence and organizational success within our clients. This role remains billable to clients, with a target of 75% billable time and 25% practice development and functional oversight for individual contributors within the PPM and PMO Practice areas.  Highly customer facing, the PPM Practice Leader’s professionalism, excellent communication style, and ability to influence decision makers are all paramount in this role.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Strategy:
    • Develop and execute the strategic vision for the PPM and PMO Practice, aligning with the overall goals and objectives of Business Solutions and Trissential.
    • Provide functional leadership guidance to the practice team, fostering a collaborative and results-driven culture.
    • Mentor and coach consultants within the practice, fostering their professional growth and capabilities.
    • Manage the business of the practices area, including responsibility for the P&L.
    • Develop relevant service offerings and supporting material for the service area.
    • Stay abreast of leading practices and industry trends including the impact of generative AI and automation to continuously enhance service offerings. 
    • Lead the PPM Center of Practice to drive collaboration, capability thought leadership, development, and management of assets (processes, tools, templates), and continuous improvement activities.
    • Participate in industry thought leadership forums, contributing to the ongoing improvement of the capability. 
    • Share thought-provoking insights, contribute to marketing and social media campaigns, and outreach efforts.
    • Lead Trissential’s PMO Leadership Forum and LinkedIn community ensuring relevant content and driving active participation.
  • Sales Support and Client Engagement:
    • Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, understanding their unique needs and challenges related to project portfolio management and the PMO.
    • In collaboration with the sales team, lead proposal and RFP response, scoping, and pricing of PPM and PMO consulting engagements, ensuring that the proposals / contracts provide high-quality solutions that drive tangible business outcomes.
    • Cultivate strong client relationships with decision makers and stakeholders of influence to actively seek opportunities for growth and expansion of services.
  • Consulting Delivery:
    • Oversee the design and implementation of tailored PPM solutions, including portfolio optimization strategies, PMO establishment, development and improvement including governance frameworks and performance metrics. Ensure desired outcomes are achieved.
    • Provide thought leadership and expertise in areas such as project portfolio management and PMO.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate PPM solutions with other consulting offerings, ensuring aligned, holistic support for client needs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Project Management, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Proven experience (12+ years) in project portfolio management, PMO leadership, or related consulting roles, with a track record of delivering impactful solutions to clients.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate teams towards achieving common goals.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with clients at all levels of the organization.
  • Deep understanding of project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall, Hybrid, etc.), portfolio optimization techniques, and PMO governance frameworks.
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to translate client needs into actionable plans and solutions.
  • Relevant certifications such as PMP, PfMP, or PgMP are desirable.

Benefits

Trissential offers competitive compensation package for full time roles.  The annual salary for this position ranges from $175,000 to $200,000, contingent upon the candidate's qualifications, experience, certifications, and reputation within the industry.
